The Vivobarefoot Tracker Textile AT II Men are waterproof barefoot boots for walking through mountains, mud, rock and routes where the weather changes without warning.
They protect you from water and rough terrain, but without turning your feet into two bricks. Their All Terrain sole, wide toe box and zero drop give you grip, freedom and a natural feel in every step.
More mountain. More protection. More foot.
Men’s barefoot boots for hiking, rain and changing terrain
The Vivobarefoot Tracker Textile AT II Men are men’s barefoot boots designed for mountain walking, trails, mud, rock, wet ground and routes where the weather does not always ask permission before making the day more complicated.
If you are looking for men’s barefoot hiking boots with a waterproof membrane, All Terrain sole and a more natural feel than a traditional mountain boot, this model fits exactly there: protection on the outside, freedom on the inside.
Because a hiking boot should not turn your foot into a brick.
It should protect you from the terrain, yes.
But it should also let you feel it.
The Tracker Textile AT II Men keeps Vivobarefoot’s barefoot philosophy: wide toe box, zero drop, flexible sole and ground connection. But it does so with a construction prepared for mountains, rain and changing terrain. It is not an urban shoe with an outdoor look. It is a real barefoot boot for heading out when the ground is dry, wet, firm, rocky or simply in a bad mood.
Its textile upper with recycled materials and animal-free construction also make it a very interesting alternative for anyone looking for a vegan hiking boot without giving up grip, waterproof protection and natural comfort.
Waterproof protection without losing barefoot feel
Many waterproof boots have one problem: they protect a lot, but isolate too much. They keep you dry, yes, but in exchange they take you away from the ground, stiffen your stride and make the foot move as if it were wearing a cast with laces.
The Vivobarefoot Tracker Textile AT II Men looks for a different balance.
It is made with water-resistant treatments, non-absorbent materials, sealed seams and a breathable inner membrane to offer waterproof protection. This makes it a very useful option for routes with rain, mud, wet grass, damp paths or unpredictable weather.
But it does not lose what matters.
The sole remains thin for a mountain boot. The toe box still leaves space for the toes to spread. Zero drop keeps the foot in a flat position. And the flexibility allows your stride not to depend on a rigid structure that decides everything for you.
The feeling is clear: more protection than a lightweight barefoot shoe, but much more natural than a conventional mountain boot.
And when you have been walking for hours, that is appreciated.
All Terrain sole for mud, rock, wet ground and firm paths
The sole is one of the big differences of the Tracker Textile AT II Men. It is not designed for clean asphalt or for strolling through town while looking adventurous. It is designed for real terrain.
The All Terrain sole combines a 2.5 mm base with 4 mm lugs to provide grip on varied surfaces. Dry dirt, rock, firm paths, moderate mud, wet leaves and routes where you need traction without losing all the information from the ground.
The updated lug design aims to reduce slipping and improve grip in key traction areas. And this matters, because in the mountains it is not enough to have a thick boot. You need it to respond when the terrain changes, when you descend a slope, when you step on wet rock or when the path decides to get interesting right after someone says “this is easy”.
The difference compared with a rigid and very high sole is that here you still feel the terrain. Not in a raw and uncomfortable way, but with a useful connection. Enough to adapt your support, correct your step and walk with more awareness.
That is barefoot applied to hiking: not removing protection for the sake of it. Removing what is unnecessary so the foot can take part again.
Tracker Textile AT II compared with Tracker Leather AT II, Tracker Forest ESC and Primus Trail
The Vivobarefoot Tracker Textile AT II Men has a very specific place within Vivobarefoot’s outdoor family. And it is worth not confusing it with other models, because each one responds to a different use.
It is not a Tracker Leather AT II. The Leather version uses leather and offers a different kind of natural protection, with a more classic mountain boot character. The Tracker Textile AT II is the textile option, vegan according to Vivobarefoot’s classification, with recycled materials and a waterproof membrane.
It is not a Tracker Forest ESC. The Forest ESC is more focused on tougher terrain, forest, deep countryside and conditions where maximum robustness is needed. The Tracker Textile AT II is more versatile for hiking, wet routes, moderate mountain terrain, varied paths and broader outdoor use.
It is not a Primus Trail. The Primus Trail is a low trail shoe, lighter and more agile for running or moving quickly along paths. The Tracker Textile AT II is a high boot, with more protection, more coverage and better performance when you need waterproofing and support around the ankle.
And compared with the previous Tracker Textile AT, this version II keeps the idea of a waterproof and vegan barefoot boot, but arrives with an updated seamless construction and a refined All Terrain sole to improve grip and performance on varied terrain.
So it becomes easy to understand.
If you want leather, look at Leather.
If you want demanding forest terrain, look at Forest ESC.
If you want light trail, look at Primus Trail.
If you want a men’s waterproof barefoot boot for hiking and changing terrain, this is where the Tracker Textile AT II comes in.
Who these men’s waterproof barefoot boots are for
The Vivobarefoot Tracker Textile AT II Men are for men who want to walk in the mountains with more freedom, more sensitivity and less stiffness than with a traditional boot. For hikers who value a wide toe box, zero drop and a natural feel of the terrain, but who also need waterproof protection, grip and coverage.
They make a lot of sense for mid-mountain routes, damp paths, weekend escapes, trips with changing weather, autumn and winter hiking, long countryside walks and terrain where a low shoe may fall short.
They are also a good option if you are looking for a vegan barefoot hiking boot. Not because that will make you climb a hill better. If only. But because it allows you to choose a technical boot without using animal leather as the main material.
That said, they are not for everything.
They are not mountaineering boots. They are not for crampons. They are not for deep snow for hours. They are not the coolest option for dry and hot summer weather. And if you come from rigid, high and heavily cushioned boots, it is worth making a gradual transition, because here the foot works more.
If you want a boot that does everything for you, this is not it.
If you want a boot that protects you without switching your feet off, then yes.
A more natural, lightweight and adaptable mountain boot
The Tracker Textile AT II Men does not try to compete with a traditional mountain boot by being stiffer, higher and heavier. It does exactly the opposite: it offers outdoor protection with a much freer feel.
The removable thermal insole adds versatility. It helps regulate temperature by absorbing, storing and releasing heat depending on foot conditions. You can use it when it is cold or remove it if you prefer more space and a more direct feel.
The textile construction also helps the boot feel less bulky than many classic hiking options. It is still a boot. It has structure. It has protection. It has a membrane. It has a lugged sole.
But it does not feel like medieval armour for going into the mountains.
And that is exactly what makes it interesting.
Because when you walk for hours, freedom matters. Flexibility matters. Space at the front matters. Feeling the terrain matters. And not ending up with your toes crushed as if they had travelled economy class for 12 hours also matters quite a lot.
The Vivobarefoot Tracker Textile AT II Men is for anyone who wants the mountains with more foot and less block.

Care and maintenance of Vivobarefoot Tracker Textile AT II Men
Materials: as they are made with recycled textile, synthetic reinforcements, a waterproof membrane and a lugged sole, it is best to remove mud, dust or soil after each route with a soft brush. Do not let mud dry for days on the textile or sole.
Care products: for a deeper clean, use a dry or slightly damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Do not use bleach, harsh detergents or strong chemical products.
Remove the insole and let the boots dry at room temperature. Avoid tumble dryers, radiators, direct sunlight and any intense heat source, as this may damage the materials, adhesives and membrane. After muddy or wet routes, check the sole and lugs to remove accumulated debris.
