Soon one of our own is getting married. And he is not just anyone.
I’m not talking about someone who just happened to pass by and got hooked on barefoot by chance. No.
I’m talking about Ángel, one of the pillars of ZaMi.
You know him.
Surely he has answered more than one of your questions by email.
Or replied to you with his eternal calm over the phone.
Or maybe he assisted you in person, and you left the store with the feeling of having learned more in half an hour than in years of running with the wrong shoes.
You’ve also seen him in our videos, in our stories, in those reels…
Ángel has been at this almost from the beginning.
When saying “barefoot” was almost like invoking a cult.
When they called us crazy for walking barefoot or for recommending shoes that looked more like a glove than footwear.
And there he was.
Facing it all.
Attending those who came convinced and, above all, those who came with doubts.
With patience, with kindness, with empathy.
Because this is not just about selling shoes.
It’s about changing mindsets.
Changing the footwear industry.
Opening eyes (and feet).
And Ángel understood the purpose from the very beginning and has been one of the great drivers of that transformation.
If you now know what drop is, sole thickness, or why your feet need space… part of that knowledge, directly or indirectly, was put on your plate by Ángel.
He was the one who made the drawings for the Guide to Learning Running Technique.
He designed our friendly mascot Zabri and all the stickers we include in each of our orders.
And now, he’s getting married.
But… I have to tell you the truth.
This time, barefoot won’t make it to the altar.
Ángel has tried.
Really.
But sometimes, as the saying goes, when the boss rules, the sailor doesn’t.
You know what I mean…
So he won’t get married in minimalist shoes.
But he’ll do what many women do at weddings: endure the high, tight shoes during the ceremony…
And then change to truly enjoy.
When the “I do” and the official photos are done, he will wear what he really wants: The Zaqq Apeq.
Black, elegant, they go with a suit and respect 100% the principles of barefoot footwear: Zero drop. Flexible sole. Space for your toes to breathe, even on your wedding day (which says a lot).
So if you also have a wedding, christening, or meeting that requires formal wear, do like Ángel: suffer just enough, and then… switch to barefoot shoes with style.
If they work for him to dance all night at his wedding, imagine what they can do for you on any given Monday at the office.
From here, I can only say: Thank you, Ángel.
For always being there, for pushing, for never giving up.
And for reminding us, by your example, that this is not just about feet… it’s about people.
Health starts in your feet.
Antonio Caballo.
