The health of your ankles depends on your height

During the morning coffee, a woman next to me tells a friend about her problem.

It turns out she sprained her ankle and they put her in a cast.

She found it strange.

Nowadays, the usual thing is to put on a bandage, not to immobilize it as if you had broken your ankle into ten pieces.

But of course… It was August.

August and hospitals don’t get along well.

Not well, not even okay.

Bad.

Very bad.

She ended up with a doctor who wasn’t up to date.

Outdated, according to her.

And inexperienced.

He tightened the cast so much that her foot swelled and blisters appeared.

I’m not sure exactly what she meant by blisters, but it must have been painful because she repeated it several times in the conversation.

All this while standing, leaning on a crutch, as she talked to her friend.

Why am I telling you this?

For two reasons.

The first. Don’t get sick in August.

This woman almost lost a foot.

My brother, at 37, was wrongly diagnosed with tuberculosis.

They told him to “get his papers in order” and say goodbye to his loved ones.

A trauma he still remembers, because he was actually as healthy as a horse.

The second. The closer you are to the ground, the harder it is to fall.

Have you ever heard the saying “it won’t fall further than the ground”?

When something drops, people say it to downplay it.

Well, the same goes for shoes.

If you walk on a 10 cm sole, any stone is a catapult.

There’s more twisting, and the more it twists, the higher the chance of a sprain.

However, with a 5 mm sole, you’re closer to the ground, more stable, more connected, and your ankle turns just as it should.

No more.

It’s that simple.

Pure physics of falling.

Right.

If you’ve been here for a while, you already know one of the barefoot principles is that the sole should be thin.

But of course, it also depends on the use.

If you’re climbing a mountain with sharp rocks, maybe 5 mm isn’t for you.

But for city walking, for everyday life, for your health in the medium and long term… This is the best you can do for your feet.

That’s why I’m going to recommend one I really love.

They are the Groundies Zurich.

Available in two finishes, for women and for men.

> Lightweight and breathable textile

Perfect for warm climates and long walks. For Women and for Men

> Vegan microfiber with suede details

A more urban and elegant finish. High quality. Very top. Also for Women and for Men

Don’t risk your foot with a 100 mm platform.

Get down to the ground and start walking for real.

So that your ankle’s twist is what it should be, and no more.

Efectiviwonder.

Health starts with your feet.
