Yesterday a friend called me.
That friend who, when he takes off his socks, has wide feet.
You’d say wider than normal.
And of course… bunions.
One of them the size of a big walnut.
In his twenties he already had them and the worst part was he was convinced that the only way out was surgery.
He told me something that touched me: “If I hadn’t met you in 2013, now I’d have metal in my foot.”
Back then he already lived with foot pain, especially in the right one, where the big bunion was, walnut-sized.
That summer I started cycling and we made a trade: he gave me a pair of cycling shoes he no longer used, in exchange for new barefoot sandals.
A pair of Pies Sucios.
Since then, it all became clear to him.
The pain began to subside and his toes gained mobility.
And I’m telling you all this for a reason.
People still think bunions are inherited.
Period.
When in reality what’s inherited are habits.
Right?
We squeeze our feet into narrow shoes, add insoles and expect miracles.
Oh my God, what faith!
Fine.
If you’re reading this, you can do two things.
Nothing, just carry on, even if your toes feel like sardines in a can inside your shoes.
Or do yourself a favor and listen to your body.
Let your toes breathe, spread, move like never before.
And if you have bunions, don’t fall into the “this is forever” trap.
Change is possible, even if you’ve had them for years.
And change starts with changing footwear.
That’s the beginning.
And now, if you have wide feet and want elegance without squeezing, here’s my sure bet: BeFlamboyant
Truly wide, with a generous toe box so the big toe leads.
Zero drop to align everything.
Flexible, thin sole so the foot does the work, and on top of that, vegan.
As elegant as Isabel Preysler in evening wear and as functional as a happy foot.
Efectiviwonder.
Health starts with your feet.
