On Wednesday, Marchena was hit by a downpour like no one could remember.
It wasn’t normal rain, the kind that just bothers you a bit and that’s it.
It was one of those that turn the main street into a brown river with actual waves.
Bloody hell, what a storm!
Madness.
My partner’s shop got flooded. And there we were, bucket in hand, mop, broom… pushing water out all afternoon.
You know, the usual when water decides to come in through the door like it’s got a key.
And what was I wearing?
The Vivobarefoot Scott, barefoot boots I’m in love with.
But of course... there’s something even the best boots can’t fight: water coming in from the top when you’re ankle-deep in it.
The street was a river. And I had no choice but to cross it to get home for lunch.
So I did.
No hesitation.
When I took off the boots, I poured half a liter of water from each.
Like I had filled them with a jug.
But here’s the strange thing: my feet were warm.
And now I ask you:
Do you have boots for days like these?
Or are you still wearing sneakers that soak up water just by looking at a puddle?
This time of year, you’ve got to be ready.
And if it rarely rains where you live, water-resistant boots may be enough.
But if you live where the sky throws tantrums every other day, you need something more serious.
Truly waterproof boots, the kind that can handle puddles, improvised rivers, and massive downpours like the one in my town.
We’ve got both types here.
But make no mistake: waterproof ones last much longer.
You’d have to keep your feet underwater for quite a while before they get soaked. And some, not even then.
Waterproof – For when things get serious:
Water-resistant – For milder climates:
So if you don’t want your feet floating like chickpeas in water, get yourself some solid companions for the storm.
And when you have to cross a river in the middle of town, at least you’ll be well protected.

PS. If the boot is leather, it already offers some natural rain protection. But if you add a waterproof spray like this one, it’s next level.
